Your New Role
CNN’s Global Productions team is looking for an experienced digital Feature Writer to produce high-quality, long-form editorial content across topics including sustainability, business, culture and travel.
This role is focused on digital feature storytelling, with an emphasis on deeply reported, narrative-driven articles. The writer will work alongside specialist colleagues across the organization, including editors, video producers and visual teams, to deliver high-quality editorial features.
While there may be occasional opportunities to support multi-platform content, the core focus of this role is digital written features. The role will utilize a mix of formats including long-form features, short-form digital articles, and interactive storytelling elements such as data-led pieces and visual packages.
Your Role Accountabilities
The Feature Writer will work closely with the Executive Producer, Copy Editors and Content Insights team to pitch and develop sponsored and editorial features that engage audiences and contribute to wider CNN Digital audience growth goals.
Produce compelling digital feature articles with strong structure, narrative flow and editorial judgment
Pitch original story ideas informed by audience insights and global trends
Collaborate with editorial, visual and insights teams to enhance storytelling
Maintain CNN’s editorial standards, ensuring content is accurate, balanced and engaging
Work with sponsorship stakeholders where required, ensuring alignment across editorial and commercial objectives
Contribute to multi-format storytelling, including visual features, galleries and supporting content
Write engaging headlines and captions for digital platforms
Review and provide first-edit input on selected content from contributors or junior writers
Build stories within CMS platforms and use analytics tools to optimize performance
This role will collaborate with international teams and contributors and requires the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Strong portfolio of digital feature writing, including long-form content
Experience in journalism or digital publishing environments
Proven ability to develop engaging, well-researched feature stories
Strong storytelling instincts and editorial judgment
Comfortable working with data, visuals and multimedia storytelling formats
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to generate original ideas and adapt to different formats
