Position Overview:

Under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant performs advanced administrative, clerical, and operational support duties for attorneys, management, and staff within the Public Defender’s Office. This position plays a critical role in supporting daily office operations and ensuring efficient, client-centered administrative support in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating administrative functions, maintaining confidential client and case-related records, managing correspondence, assisting with document preparation and filing, and providing professional assistance to attorneys, staff, clients, court personnel, and the public. Administrative Assistants are assigned to a specific team and are responsible for supporting multiple attorneys within the team. The Administrative Assistant will also answer and route phone calls, return client calls, and respond to general client inquiries. The employee exercises independent judgment within established policies and procedures and is expected to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters related to client representation and office operations.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative, clerical, or secretarial experience Experience in a legal, court, criminal justice, or government environment preferred.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regular Full-time

  • Monday - Friday | 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.

    • In an office environment.

Salary:

  • Depends on Qualifications

  • Based on 26 pay periods



Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
