The Assistant Engineering Manager diagnoses, provide service and repairs to Hotel equipment including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating. Additionally, they respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum Hotel satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ guidelines and policies.
TASKS
- Assist in the hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, disciplining, and planning of activities of maintenance
Department staff
- Participate in the employee performance reviews process
- Prepares & executes effective preventive maintenance schedules
- Assist in planning and implementing procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient maintenance
- Directly supervise staff in carrying out work schedules as well as spot-checking to verify quality and
- Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools
- Maintain par stocks and the distribution of items
- Ensure timely and accurate sub meter logs
- Handle the purchasing of equipment replacement parts and repairs. This includes contacting vendors for best prices, writing purchase orders, receiving goods, and completing projects
- Ensure that work order/request system is properly executed and that items from the logbook are followed up on when necessary
- Assist in developing and updating comprehensive departmental policies and manuals
- Ensure that all meter readings on heat, light and power are taken daily and reviewed for consumption.
- Assist in compiling a monthly consumption report on heat, light, and power to include electricity, gas, steam, diesel and water
- Set-up fire line safety system, valve locations and other emergency procedures that involves the department
- Ensure effective communication and good relations between the maintenance department and other departments in the Hotel
- Prepare and follow through on any projects as outlined by senior management
- Ensure all areas of the Hotel are patrolled and inspected on a regular basis
- Ensure all maintenance staff are in uniform and well groomed
- Ensure timely completion of all assigned responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining an energy conservation program allowing the property to meet its annual budget targets
- Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise efficiently with the Engineering Head on such matters
- Always conduct oneself in a professional manner to reflect the high standards of Four Seasons Private Hotel and encourage staff to do the same
- Maintain a good working relationship with other employees, providing instruction and encouragement as needed
- Ensure a clean, neat, and organized work area
- Attend and participate in all required meetings
- Respond properly in any hotel emergency of safety situation
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management and staff
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the installation or relocation of any additional equipment or existing equipment when necessary
- Assist with energy conservation programs in the hotel
- Support the installation of electrical and mechanical systems for renovations, outlet additions and associated equipment and of electrical set ups for exhibits including maintenance of those set-ups
- Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors
- Conducting monthly walk Hotel walkthrough of all Hotel areas along with Engineering head
- Create a Perfect Program for Hotel with guidance from Engineering head
- Conducting regular proactive trainings for Hotel Team members on quarterly basis
- Assisting Hotel Finance team on preparing & generating monthly utility bills for Hotel common areas
SKILLS AND COMPENTENCIES
- Fluent in English & local language
- Secondary education or equivalent experience
- Experience required by position is from 3 months to 1 full year of employment in the related position with Four Seasons or other organization
- Requires a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance
- Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job or through a series of professional certifications
- Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment
