ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, manage, and execute all engineering activities, including defining deliverables, schedules, and milestones, and ensuring commitments are met.
- Lead, coach, and manage the Oberon engineering team, maintaining productivity, accountability, and balanced workloads.
- Support the design and development of Oberon products, contributing to mechanical design, documentation, and design reviews
- Track, report, and communicate engineering goals, project status, risks, and accomplishments to the Director of Operations and other stakeholders.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards, design practices, documentation requirements, and change control processes.
- Participate directly in design decisions to deliver manufacturable products that maximize customer value while meeting cost, schedule, and budget targets, and ensuring designs support operational efficiency.
- Apply Lean principles to engineering and product design, including standardizing components, simplifying assemblies, and reducing complexity to support efficient manufacturing and operations.
- Ensure products are designed to meet requirements for quality, reliability, environmental sustainability, thermal performance, electrical considerations, ergonomics, safety, and applicable regulatory codes and standards, including UL.
- Maintain accurate and well-controlled engineering data, including drawings, BOMs, models, and revisions.
- Ensure proper protocols are followed to maintain a clean, organized, and safe engineering workspace and lab environment.
- Recognize industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs, and proactively adapt engineering approaches and product designs.
- Serve as owner of engineering software, tools, and processes, ensuring they are effectively selected, maintained, and used.
- Utilize AI and other software tools to improve engineering efficiency, automation, and overall team capability.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and manufacturing partners to support production, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
- Evaluate suppliers and manufacturing partners for technical capability, quality, and cost effectiveness.
- Lead Oberon’s transition from Autodesk Inventor to SolidWorks with minimal business disruption.
