Ophthalmic Scribe – Orlando
Eye Physicians of Central Florida, a Division of Florida Pediatric Associates and play a key role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. In this position, you will support healthcare providers, contribute to a positive patient experience, and be part of a collaborative, patient-focused team dedicated to making every visit meaningful.
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Ophthalmic Scribe is to assist with medical record documentation as directed by practitioners, including but not limited to accurately recording the patient encounter, in-office procedures, and treatment plans.
Education, Training, and Certification
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) preferred.
Experience
- One year of Ophthalmic Scribe experience in medical practice.
Skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, colleagues and vendors.
- Demonstrable effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrable effective time management by organizing daily tasks, meeting assigned deadlines, following established workflows, and seeking guidance when priorities or timelines change.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and independent decision-making.
- Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Demonstrable analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of:
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and proper data entry practices.
- Database systems and accurate data entry.
Understanding of:
- Medical terminology.
- Physician dictation, instructions, and medical decision-making processes
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Accompany practitioners during patient visits to accurately document medical histories, physical exams, and medical decision-making including assessments and treatment plans within the EMR system.
- Accurately document procedures, diagnostic results, and physician instructions.
- Assist with chart preparation prior to patient visits, ensuring all relevant information is available.
- Assist practitioners with administrative tasks such as completing forms, referrals, and prescriptions.
- Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff.
- Assist with escorting patients from exam rooms to patient check-out areas.
- Seek guidance from senior staff when necessary and perform duties within the scope of training and competency.
