How You’ll Make an Impact
Screen patients, review their progress, assess oral hygiene, update medical histories, and confirm or update personal information (address, phone number, email, DDS).
Maintain accurate records of patients' oral health, treatment progress, and procedures performed in the practice management system.
Perform intraoral procedures as authorized by the DDS, as indicated in the patient’s chart (e.g., archwires, chain elastics, coil springs, surgical hooks, auxiliary hooks, Forsus springs)
Place and remove separating elastics as needed.
Prepare teeth and place fixed appliances that were previously fitted by the DDS (e.g., bands, brackets, RPE, Invisalign attachments, fixed lingual retainers).
Remove fixed appliances and residual cement (e.g., brackets, bands, RPE, fixed retainers, Invisalign attachments).
Perform scaling as needed before placing a fixed lingual retainer.
Mechanically polish teeth after the removal of fixed appliances.
Take impressions for retainer or mouthguard fabrication.
Provide patients with instructions on oral hygiene, dietary recommendations related to orthodontics, and specific guidance on caring for devices and braces.
Address patient emergencies and restore their original state (e.g., fix poking archwires, replace broken archwires, elastics, or appliances, and reinsert missing parts).
Assist with cleaning and disinfecting operatories when time allows.
Provide reports to parents or guardians about patient progress.
Interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and ensure proper protocols are followed.
Assess emergency situations and be familiar with emergency protocols, including first aid and CPR.
The Teammate We’re Looking For
Registered Dental Hygienist or Restorative Dental Hygienist in good standing.
Orthodontic experience is an asset, but we look forward to supporting the right candidate to expand their skills.
CPR C/AED Certification.
Must be able to provide key responsibilities while wearing personal protective equipment such as gown, cap, face shield, and mask. For aerosol generating procedures a N95 or KN95 mask is required.
