Director of Staff Development (DSD)

Pay: $45–$48/hour

Whitney Oaks Care Center is looking for a Director of Staff Development (DSD) to join our team!

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and helping others succeed. As our DSD, you'll play a key role in developing and supporting our clinical team through education, training, and ongoing professional development. Your work will directly impact the quality of care we provide and help create a positive, supportive environment for both staff and residents.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate and oversee staff education, orientation, and ongoing training programs
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility training requirements
• Plan, develop, and conduct in-service education programs
• Support onboarding and mentorship of new employees
• Maintain training records and documentation
• Monitor staff competencies and provide coaching as needed
• Assist with regulatory surveys and quality improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify educational needs and performance improvement opportunities
• Foster a culture of learning, teamwork, and excellence in resident care

Qualifications

• Current California RN or LVN license in good standing
• Long-term care or skilled nursing experience required
• Previous staff development, education, leadership, or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to skilled nursing facilities
• Passion for teaching, mentoring, and helping others grow professionally
• Ability to work independently while building strong relationships with staff at all levels
