Job Summary

Under the direction of a licensed therapist, assists in delivering patient care in the rehabilitation setting as described in State of Maryland Practice Acts. Performs routine tasks to help ensure productive therapy sessions such as maintaining treatment areas, preparing patients for therapy, and assisting in clerical tasks.

 

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

· Prepares and maintains treatment areas and equipment to adhere to appropriate infection control standards, as well as maintains logs to assure compliance.

 

· Assists the licensed clinicians in the delivery of patient care as permitted by State of Maryland Practice Acts.

 

· Assists in the training of new rehabilitation technicians.

 

· Assists front office and clinicians with routine clerical tasks to support the patient care process.

 

· Monitors and maintains inventory to assure adequate supplies.

 

· Demonstrates patient-centered care and service.

· Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Education & Experience - Required

 

· Education: High School diploma or equivalent

· Experience: No experience required

· Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire

Education & Experience - Preferred

 

· Experience: 1 year of relevant experience

· Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained prior to hire

· Strong verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills. 

· Interpersonal skills to enable the technician to establish and maintain rapport with team members, patients, and families. 

· Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team. 

· Ability to manage time and set priorities according to the demands of the job. 

· Ability to conceptualize and problem-solve when assisting with patient care. 

· Ability to adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the organization. 

· Ability to maintain confidentiality with patients and team members.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work Environment: Medical Related Facility - climate and lighting controlled, clean, but with biohazards and medical equipment hazards.

Physical Requirements: Strenuous-regular and considerable walking, climbing or standing for extended periods, regular lifting, pushing or pulling of objects, materials, tools, equipment, and/or patients weighing up to 50 pounds.

Fine Manipulation Skills Requirements: Moderate-work requires regular fine manipulation in keyboarding, setting equipment controls and typically use of both hands.

Corrected Vision Requirements: Normal Range Near, Far and Peripheral Vision

Speaking Attribute Requirement: Communicates effectively in person to person speech.

Hearing Attribute Requirement: Hear and decipher person speech in person
