Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated medical campus that includes diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department located in the state-of-the-art hospital. Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education.
A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) diagnoses and treats conditions that affect one’s ability to communicate and swallow. As experts in communication, these specialists assess, diagnose, treat and prevent speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders from birth through old age. Speech Pathologists can help patients improve their speech, open new communication possibilities and improve their ability to comprehend others, express oneself, communicate more effectively in social settings and swallow safely. This is a dedicated, collaborative team that will help you to advance your skills while supporting patients during their healing journey.
A PRN caregiver in this position works 8-hour shifts between 7:00AM – 6:00PM, with flexibility on start/end times. The schedule is flexible. A minimum of 4 weekend days per 8-week period and 1 major and 2 minor holidays per year will be required.
Floating across all Martin Health sites will be required, as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations, impairments and disorders.
Provide, interpret, plan and supervise patient evaluations and treatments in accordance with the physician referral, ensuring the care, safety and wellbeing of the patient.
Continually review the plan of care and make revisions as needed.
Prepare progress reports on all treatments in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures and report to the physician as needed.
Instruct and counsel medical staff and family members to assist the patient in treatment techniques.
Perform voice evaluations, treatment of various voice disorders and bedside swallow evaluations.
Demonstrate competency with the MBSs for adults and pediatrics.
Follow Code Blue and all protocols as per Clinic policy.
Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by the Joint Commission.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Masters, Doctorate or SLP-D Degree from an accredited School of Speech-Language Pathology
Registered in the State of Florida
Current Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology or eligible
Speech Pathologist (SP) license in the state of Florida
Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American-Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
Externship experience
