Job Description
First-McNess Company is hiring a full-time Commodity Merchandising Coordinator for our Lake City, FL location.
Starting Pay: Compensation will be determined by relevant experience and the interview process
Pay Type: Salary, paid bi-weekly
Core Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Work Setting: Hybrid

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Merchandising Coordinator supports the movement of commodities and products by coordinating daily trucking and rail logistics while assisting merchandising activities. This role helps ensure timely and efficient transportation, accurate documentation, and strong communication between carriers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams. The position plays a key role in maintaining inventory flow, supporting contract execution, and contributing to cost‑effective, reliable logistics operations across the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate daily truck and rail shipments, including scheduling, tracking, and ensuring timely delivery

Participate in process improvement efforts to enhance logistics performance and customer service

Build and maintain strong working relationships with trucking companies, rail partners, suppliers, and customers

Support inventory accuracy by coordinating product movement and verifying availability across facilities

Assist with resolving service issues, delivery delays, and customer concerns

Maintain accurate records for freight rates, contracts, and transportation related documentation

Monitor freight costs and assist in identifying opportunities to reduce transportation expenses

Communicate shipment schedules, service updates, and delivery changes with internal teams, customers, and carriers

Work with carriers and internal teams to optimize routes, freight utilization, and transportation efficiency

Support merchandising activities by maintaining position reports, contract applications, and shipment documentation

Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, agriculture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation coordination, dispatching, supply chain, or merchandising

Experience with truck or rail logistics preferred

Knowledge of agricultural commodities, feed ingredients, grain, or bulk materials preferred

Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic ERP or transportation systems

Customer focused mindset with strong attention to detail and follow-through

Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners

Occasional travel may be required

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
