UW Human Resources has an outstanding opportunity for a Junior HRIS Analyst to join their Human Resources Benefits, Analytics and Information Systems (HRBAIS) team!

About this Opportunity

Reporting to AVP for the Human Resources Benefits, Analytics and Information Systems (HRBAIS) the HRIS Analyst plays a pivotal role in driving analytical, project, and technical excellence within UWHR initiatives. As a technical data analyst, the incumbent will be instrumental in crafting and managing intricate SQL queries, Reporting Services Reports, SSIS packages, Tableau instances, and Workday data solutions. Additionally, they will serve as a crucial link between business needs and technical solutions, contributing to the development of requirements, technical documentation, and providing support for both technical and functional testing on complex HRBAIS development projects.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analytics - 30%

The HRIS Analyst will be tasked with creating and analyzing complex data sets using Transact-SQL and Workday data tools. They will meticulously conduct data extraction and comprehensive testing to ensure the accuracy of results, thereby upholding the quality of institutional HR data. Furthermore, this role will involve evaluating data to derive insights crucial for strategic HR decisions, including talent acquisition, performance evaluation, benefits utilization, budget reconciliation, and workforce planning.  Strong collaboration with HR business owners will be essential, as the position aims to provide data that facilitates data-driven decision-making and enhances organizational performance.

Advanced SQL skills are imperative for pulling, aggregating, and documenting large data sets, while proficiency in Excel and VBA is also required to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.

Data Management and Presentation- 30%

This position plays a vital role in HR information management efforts. Responsibilities encompass supporting all HR data requests, crafting complex reports, and establishing and upholding data presentation layers utilizing a variety of BI tools such as Tableau, MS Reporting Services, Microsoft Power BI, and Workday data tools. Collaborating within a team setting, the incumbent ensures efficient organization of HR data and accessibility of information to assist HR decision-makers.

Key skills essential for this role include the capacity to assess and document technical requirements, proficiently develop institutional reports, and effectively utilize BI tools to deliver data. 

HR Business Analyst - 30%

The incumbent leads users through discussions concerning the present and future states of systems and supporting processes, guiding subject matter experts (SMEs) and business owners in generating high-quality documentation for both current and desired future states. They proficiently conduct complex gap analyses of processes and systems and collaborate with SMEs and business owners to document precise system technical and functional requirements.

Additionally, they work alongside SMEs and business owners to produce comprehensive system documentation, encompassing both technical and functional guides. Furthermore, they take charge of creating and implementing test plans, ensuring thorough testing procedures. During application development, they provide crucial support to the business as a liaison with .NET developers, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration.

Miscellaneous - 10%

Required Qualifications

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business or related field and two to three years of experience with a:

  • Minimum of 2 years using SQL (or programming languages) to extract and present data out of complex multi-layer environments.
  • Minimum of 2 years working with business clients to develop requirements and system documentation.
  • Minimum of 2 years developing enterprise level reports in a production environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience analyzing and explaining complex data sets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal applicant will have 2 years working with HR and/or Payroll data.
  • Ideal applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ideal applicant will work well as part of a team, but is also able to work independently when needed.
  • Ideal applicant will have experience with the BI tools including MS reporting services, SSIS, SSAS and Tableau.
  • Ideal applicant will have experience with Workday Data Tools   

Working Conditions

Hybrid schedule – office environment and remote. At least 2 days a week in office. Position responsibilities may exceed normal work hours and require some evening and weekend work.   

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$70,008.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$76,500.00 annual
