Job Description

What We Are Looking For

Assist Hazardous Liquids and Natural Gas business units with qualifications of employees performing DOT regulated pipeline covered tasks, in compliance with federal and applicable state pipeline safety regulatory requirements, in a cost-effective and efficient manner with minimal impact on business units' processes or resources.

 

Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.


What You Will Do

  • Participate in DOT PHMSA audits with Federal, State and Local agents Regulators. Conduct internal audit on employees
  • Audit contractor companies to ensure compliance with DOT and Company Operator Qualification requirements
  • Audit KM OQ vendors to ensure compliance with DOT and KM Operator Qualification program
  • Train personnel selected by the business units to be OQ Evaluators/Proctors and make presentations to various levels of personnel in the company.
  • Review and revise as necessary, Kinder Morgan's Operator Qualification and related Training program to ensure they are effective and cost-efficient with minimal impact on business unit processes and resources
  • Maintain and monitor Operator Qualification and related records for designated business units through the use of Enterprise-wide recordkeeping system
  • Review, implement, and if necessary, develop Operator Qualification training resources. Maintain, review, and if necessary, update Operator Qualification Evaluation tools and resources.
  • Complete special projects and annual objectives as assigned Serve as resource for field personnel for DOT/PHMSA Compliance
  • Present a positive image of OQ and foster cooperative relationships, motivating and influencing individuals to value and take personal ownership of the OQ regulation.

What You Need

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field strongly preferred. A minimum of 3 yrs. work experience in the hazardous liquids or natural gas industry may be accepted as a substitute for a degree or certification

Experience / specific knowledge:

  • Minimum 2 yrs. work experience (with bachelor's degree) or 3yrs (without a bachelor's degree) in natural gas pipeline operations or hazardous liquids pipeline operations or business.
  • Knowledge of and work experience with DOT part 192 and 195.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex training and employee issues/problems is required
  • Proven communication and presentation skills, oral and written, with ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels internally and outside the organization
  • Ability to work with a team, takes direction from a supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules and adhere to work schedules.
  • Strong proficiency level in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Experience/ Skills/ Knowledge

  • Prior work experience in pipeline operations or engineering is a plus.

 

Working conditions:

  • Modern office location in Houston, TX.
  • Travel up to 50% across a broad geographic region is required. Eligible for flexible, hybrid work schedule.
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers.
  • Required to carry a Company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employee.
