
Production Manager
Job Description
This position oversees the manufacturing of goods. Is ultimately responsible for the smooth running of all production lines and the quality of output. Has know-how in production procedures (in general). Is able to direct personnel towards maximum performance which sets them apart as a leader. Decision-making and problem-solving make up a significant part of the daily responsibilities of this position. The goal is to ensure an efficient and productive manufacturing process that meets customer requirements.
• Ensures all safety and health standards are met to keep an organization accident-free
• Conducts safety initiatives (safety & behavioral observations), investigates and documents all incidents together with EHS; conducts safety meetings; authorizes work and signs permits; participates on the plant safety committee
• Oversees the entire production process from planning to completion
• Manages production schedules and resource allocation to meet specifications and deadlines (lead times)
• Monitors production (KPI) to resolve issues; sets up the goals
• Liaises with other managers to formulate objectives, understands requirements and controls results
• Cooperates with other Production Managers from other facilities (in other sites/countries) to share experiences
• Focuses on continuous improvement (eliminating bottlenecks) by initiating LEAN project (with support of active project leaders)
• Estimates costs and implements cost-saving strategies
• Supervises and evaluates performance of production personnel (skill matrix)
• Determines amount of necessary resources (workforce), tracks the absenteeism level
• Ensures output meets quality standards
• Reports to upper management
• Education: technical background (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, eg. Production Management or Industrial Engineering)
• Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar role (min 5 years)
• Manufacturing experience – preferably in the plastics industry
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma)
• Knowledge of QC/QA (Quality Control/Quality Assurance) and health & safety standards (HSE)
• Budgeting and cost control experience
• Fluent English
