SUMMARY
The Network & Telecommunications Administrator I supports the daily operations and management of telecommunications, Voice over IP (VoIP), data communications, networking, service implementation, and IP security. This position is responsible for managing and monitoring network and telecommunications equipment and applications in alignment with the company's needs and goals to improve performance. The administrator ensures users know how to use the network, telecommunications equipment, and systems properly, and that all system users have authorized access. Responsibilities also include maintaining system security, ensuring connectivity, and supporting carrier services, LANs, WANs, network segments, as well as internet and intranet systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnoses and resolves network- and telecommunications-related problems promptly, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
- Facilitates effective communication with all individuals and departments involved.
- Assists users with network-related queries, troubleshooting, and technical issues.
- Monitors and reports on system performance and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintains and manages network diagrams and inventory documentation; documents processes and procedures for future reference.
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues.
- Responds to network-related queries and troubleshoots connectivity problems.
- Collaborates with other IT teams to address issues.
- Configures hardware and software, performs system administration, user provisioning activities, and basic health and hygiene of the solutions.
- Assists in ensuring that network equipment is secure and compliant with relevant security policies and standards.
- Responds to and resolves customer service requests according to First Interstate Bank policies in a prompt, efficient, and courteous manner at all times, including support for departments across the organization.
- Performs other job-related duties, which may include equipment repair, special projects, and assisting other IT staff.
- Collaborates with third-party support and service vendors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Detail-oriented and customer service-focused.
- Current technical experience relevant to VoIP infrastructure, including telephony capacity metrics, SIP and CTI messaging, and vendor support.
- Extensive IT and technical knowledge in the areas of local and wide area networking, communications, and related hardware and software.
- Ability to problem-solve and think critically.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Associate's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent work experience preferred
- 1-3 years IT related experience required
- Experience with low voltage cabling, MDF, and IDF preferred
