Description
New Voters Project Organizer
The Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project is hiring Organizers to run non-partisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaigns in states across the country to ensure young people are full participants in the political process for the Fall 2026 elections and beyond.
Our democracy only works when we all participate. Young people are the largest and most diverse group of potential voters in the country, with our own values and our own ideas. Yet, our generation isn’t showing up to vote in high enough numbers. In the fall of 2020, the Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project made nearly 400,000 peer-to-peer personal reminder contacts in the weeks leading up to Election Day, and we saw that hard work pay off with record turnout among young people. In 2024 we organized more than 2,500 student leaders across 23 different states who helped tens of thousands of their peers register and turn out to vote by election day. We’re keeping up this momentum in 2026.
Key Responsibilities
-
Run a non-partisan voter registration and turnout campaign in one or more campus communities, alongside passionate student activists.
-
Recruit and train a team of volunteers to help register 18-29 year olds, collect pledges to vote, and follow-up with people on their pledges to turn out the vote on Election Day.
-
Build a coalition. Work with student volunteers and interns to build a diverse, invested coalition of organizations and people to boost youth voter turnout.
-
Build the movement by recruiting volunteers, interns, and more organizers to work with us.
- This position requires exercising discretion and independent judgment in making decisions in matters of significance.
Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates who
- Have a demonstrated commitment to civic engagement issues, and a track record of leadership.
- Are goal-driven and results-oriented.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Are driven, work well with all kinds of people, and aren’t afraid to get outside their comfort zones.
- Are passionate about making positive change. Change takes time, and is often incremental; we’re looking for people who are excited to work hard every day, even if it’s just for one small step in the right direction.
