Summary:
This is a self-directed, detail and deadline-oriented position responsible for managing the movement of incoming materials, materials movement and tracking withing the manufacturing operations, and outgoing product shipments. Individuals will support and interact daily with other areas of the operation (purchasing, manufacturing, customer service, scheduling, logistics) to ensure manufacturing has necessary materials and supplies and customer packaging/shipping requirements are consistently met or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving
- Physically verify all incoming goods against paperwork, inspect for damage, and place received goods in correct storage locations.
- Use ERP system to receive incoming goods into inventory, complete Vendor Rating information and generate tickets. Accurately complete all transactions to verify inventory accuracy.
- Shipping
- Prepare finished goods for shipping per customers’ requirements including checking for correct roll lengths and that quality testing is completed.
- Generate and follow pick list and customer specifications to prepare goods for shipment (banding, “do not stack” labels etc.) and load trucks appropriately and promptly.
- Prepare all paperwork for UPS and FedEx shipments
- Communicate verbally and using email with Supply Chain, Quality, Customer Service, Logistics and carriers keeping relevant parties informed and ensuring finished products are shipped on time.
- Material Handling
- Ensure all manufacturing processes are stocked with raw materials and supplies to support daily production requirements.
- Inventory Accuracy
- Perform cycle counts.
- Accurately complete all transactions to ensure inventory accuracy per bin location and quantities.
- Miscellaneous
- Use forklift, tow motor, and other equipment to move received and finished goods.
- Ensure 5S and lean philosophies are practiced and sustained in daily activities including keeping shipping dock and warehouse locations organized and clean.
- Follow FIFO guidelines for all inventory movements and shipments.
- Work in a manner to promote a safe environment and deal with unsafe issues immediately.
- Other duties as assigned, including cross training within department and other areas of plant.
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing shipping and receiving environment.
- Ability to operate a forklift and remain compliant with forklift safety rules and training.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time and multiple priorities efficiently.
- Precise manual dexterity is required.
- Ability to communicate and read instructions effectively in English.
- Competent math skills particularly as related to measurement.
- Dependable, effective team player able to work under pressure to meet productivity standards as well as internal and customer inquiries and deadlines.
- Highly flexible with ability to move between tasks and work with changing customer and shipping requirements and schedules.
- Competent and confident using technology including Microsoft Office programs, ERP system, barcoding systems and entering data.
- Willing to cross train and take on new duties.
- Excellent attention to detail and safety requirements.
- Moving, bending, pushing, and lifting capability up to 40 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing setting.
- Moderate to high noise levels at times (personalized protective equipment and testing provided).
- Continuous periods of standing and walking required.
- Must commit to the assigned work schedule and work overtime as required.
- Considerable lifting and loading (with assistance of appropriate tools and machines)
- May include cutting and the use of sharp tools.
