The Opportunity
Abbott is hiring a Sr. Manager, Finance Professional Development Program at our Abbott Park Office. The Senior Manager, Finance Development Program plays a key role in building and strengthening the early career talent pipeline for the global finance organization. This position provides strategic leadership for the Finance Professional Development Program (FPDP), partnering closely with the FPDP Executive Sponsor and Steering Committee to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and talent development objectives.
Operating with broad autonomy and minimal oversight from the VP, Corporate Controller, this role is responsible for decisions that directly impact the global FPDP strategy, participant experience, and talent outcomes. The position regularly interfaces with senior Finance leadership, including Corporate Officers, DVPs, Finance Directors, and HR leaders across the organization.
What You’ll Work On
- Lead the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of the global Finance Professional Development Program (FPDP).
- Partner with the FPDP Steering Committee to align program objectives, priorities, and deliverables with Finance talent needs.
- Serve as a key resource for a network of 150+ FPDP alumni, supporting career development, facilitating connections across the organization, and helping alumni navigate growth opportunities to build a strong pipeline of future Finance leaders at Abbott.
- Manage and oversee a department budget of approximately $7MM.
- Collaborate with regional champions and global HR teams to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the FPDP outside the United States.
- Analyze, develop, and present key program and talent metrics to the VP, Corporate Controller and FPDP Steering Committee.
- Lead corporate partnerships with organizations such as NABA and ALPFA to strengthen Abbott’s diversity recruiting efforts and talent pipeline.
- Partner with the Finance Development Task Force (FDTF) to maintain Finance website SharePoint content and support global Finance communications.
- Manage the annual Impact Coach Awards program for the global Finance organization.
- Directly manage one Manager and approximately 40 FPDP participants.
- Indirectly oversee approximately 30 Finance internship assignments and collaborate with teams responsible for sourcing Finance intern talent.
- Serve as an active member of the Finance Development Task Force (FDTF).

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Finance, HR, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong program management, project management, and budget administration skills.
- Proven ability to influence, coach, mentor, and develop talent at various career stages.
- Strong people leadership and team management capabilities.
- Ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate across global and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity and understanding of Abbott’s global finance organization, the functions and processes, along with some of the tools used.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with SharePoint and Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 15%.

The base pay for this position is
$129,300.00 – $258,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
