Job Description
Meet the Team
The team plays a pivotal role within Cisco's Legal IT organization, spearheading the transition from fragmented legacy contract systems to a secure, cloud-based Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platform. We ensure reliable and efficient contract management that supports Cisco's legal operations.
We underpin Cisco's legal and business processes by continuously advancing the CLM system to meet evolving compliance and business needs. By integrating Agentic AI, we drive automation and innovation—enhancing efficiency and delivering measurable value to partners across the company.
Comprising skilled engineers and legal IT professionals, our collaborative and forward-thinking team develops a dynamic, supportive culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement. Joining us means being at the forefront of digital transformation in legal operations, pioneering AI-driven contract management solutions that streamline workflows and set new standards for efficiency and compliance. This is a unique opportunity to impact Cisco's business alongside a hard-working, dedicated team.
Your Impact
We are seeking a dedicated, AI-driven Software Engineer to join our Legal IT team and play a central role in evolving Cisco's Contract Lifecycle Management platform. You will combine strong software engineering fundamentals with a passion for artificial intelligence to build intelligent, scalable solutions that transform how Cisco leads its legal contracts.
Advance the CLM Platform: Design, develop, and maintain features for Cisco's cloud-based CLM system, driving the transition from legacy contract applications to a modern, secure, and scalable architecture.
Integrate AI & Agentic AI into Contract Workflows: Build and deploy AI-powered capabilities—including generative AI models, intelligent agents, and NLP-driven automation—to streamline contract authoring, review, extraction, risk assessment, and approval workflows.
Experiment and Innovate with AI/ML: Evaluate and experiment with large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and other AI architectures to identify high-impact opportunities for automation and insight within the contract lifecycle.
Translate Legal Business Needs into Technical Solutions: Partner closely with legal operations, compliance, and business partners to understand requirements and translate them into well-defined technical specifications and delivery roadmaps.
Build Robust Integrations & Developer Tools: Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, and integration layers that connect the CLM platform with enterprise systems (e.g., Salesforce, ERP, document management) and AI services.
Instrumentation & Monitoring: Implement instrumentation to measure the performance, reliability, accuracy, and security of AI-driven features and platform services, ensuring continuous observability.
Scale & Performance Optimization: Tune and optimize platform components and AI inference pipelines to handle large volumes of contracts and requests efficiently and responsively.
Ensure Security & Compliance: Apply security standards and support compliance requirements inherent to legal contract data, including data privacy, access controls, and audit readiness.
Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with data scientists, fellow engineers, product managers, and multi-functional partners to ensure successful and timely project delivery.
Supply to Engineering Culture: Participate actively in code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, and team discussions to elevate quality and develop continuous learning.
Stay Ahead of the Curve: Continuously learn and know the latest with advancements in AI/ML research, legal technology trends, and industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Informatics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
5+ years of professional software development experience using languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
Demonstrated experience building or integrating AI/ML capabilities into production applications (e.g., NLP, generative AI, LLMs, or intelligent automation).
Solid base in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
Experience with cloud-based platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and building scalable, reliable backend systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with generative AI frameworks and tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI APIs, or similar; familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns and prompt engineering.
Practical experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, or scikit-learn.
Experience with the Salesforce platform (e.g., Salesforce development, integrations, or Salesforce-based CLM tools like Agiloft, Conga, or Icertis).
Knowledge of contract lifecycle management concepts, legal technology, or enterprise document automation.
Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL), web application development, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
Knowledge of security procedures and compliance standards relevant to handling sensitive legal and business data.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams; self-motivated with a strong focus on execution and continuous improvement.
