Job Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for the development and certification of safety-critical embedded and semiconductor products. You will execute functional safety activities in alignment with international standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 and work closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute functional safety management activities across the full product development lifecycle
- Develop and maintain the Functional Safety Plan
- Compile and maintain the safety case and compliance documentation
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to define and implement the safety concept
- Support design teams with safety analyses (e.g., FMEDA, FTA, DFA)
- Ensure consistency and traceability of requirements and configuration management
- Participate in internal and external functional safety audits and assessments
- Provide guidance and coaching to project teams on safety processes and methodologies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of functional safety processes
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in functional safety, embedded systems, or semiconductor product development
- Solid understanding of:
- ISO 26262
- IEC 61508
- Safety lifecycle processes
- Experience with:
- FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA methodologies
- Embedded hardware and/or software systems
- Requirements management and traceability tools (e.g., Polarion)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned safety activities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- TÜV Automotive Functional Safety Professional (AFSP) or equivalent certification
- Experience in automotive or industrial safety applications
- Knowledge of:
- Automotive communication protocols
- MCU or SoC architectures
- Analog and mixed-signal semiconductor design
- Familiarity with ASPICE or similar development processes
- Experience supporting customer or certification audits
