Responsibilities:
- Independently demonstrates the ability to utilize evidence-based clinical knowledge to assist the physician with the diagnoses and treatment plan of all patients in the combo lab, including the set up and operation of the diagnostic and treatment devices, operates the medical radiology equipment, and will work as the scrub assistant to the physician in the cardiovascular suite.
- Reviews patient identification, orders, and history to ensure correct patient, procedure, imaging site, Protocols procedure with radiologist as needed. Transports patients to and from the exam room and assists them into position using safe patient handling techniques and equipment. Performs Interventional Radiology (IR)/Special procedures and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient's safety and comfort. Administers contrast materials as required. Able to initiate emergency response to contrast reaction as needed. Obtains and evaluates images for technical quality assurance factors including image laterality marking and annotation as required by IR/Special procedure protocols. Utilizes RIS, PACS and other, ancillary image management systems as needed.
- Works in collaboration with the medical staff and department leadership to recommend, train and monitor the performance of all personnel working, and maintain the supply chain of products in the combo lab. Assists in coordination of daily workflow for the department’s activities.
- Maintains equipment in efficient operating order. Performs and documents all required quality control testing. Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed. Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed. Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates.
- Remains current with the organization's regulatory standards and CMS regulations. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe environment of patients and staff in assigned area. Maintains stock and inventory as assigned.
- Able to take independent call and meets call requirements as outlined in department
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associates in from an accredited NLN/CCNE or ARRT Vocational/Specialized Training Required
- Bachelors in from an accredited NLN/CCNE or ARRT Vocational/Specialized Training Preferred and
- Other clinical IR or Cath experience Required
- ARRT-Radiography - Certification Radiology Tech License American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) Required
- Radiologic Technologist - License AZ Certified (CRT) Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Basic Life Support healthcare provider course Required
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Certification Registered Cardio Invasive Specialist Valid and current Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Preferred
- ARRT-Cardiac Intervention - Certification Preferred or
- ARRT-Vascular Intervention - Certification Preferred
