Job Description

Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. We work every day for a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families. The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.

Program Description: Goddard Riverside and Positive Influence have been in partnership since the 2015 Goddard merger with Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center. In 2023, the COFA Program was jointly created to engage older youth on a path to career and education and provide a Saturday arts program to elementary youth. The Gun Violence Prevention Initiative will serve as an opportunity to provide employment to the at-risk youth in the community. This initiative aims to incentivize youth who are at high risk of being affected by gun violence to participate in positive, community-based activities.

Position Summary: As an Intern for the Summer Youth Gun Violence Prevention Initiative, you will support efforts to reduce gun violence in New York City by engaging young people aged 14–24 in meaningful summer programming. This initiative aims to incentivize youth who are at high risk of being affected by gun violence to participate in positive, community-based activities between July 6 and August 21, 2026. Programs may include youth-led community projects, job readiness internships, and creative self-expression through art, technology, or other platforms. Activities focus on leadership development, placemaking, and public showcases. You will play a key role in helping to organize, promote, and support these programs. The program will conclude with a presentation in September 2026, in conjunction with partnering agencies and non-profits.
