In our 5 global studios we have more than 100 designers in dedicated teams of Graphic Design, Color Material and Finish, Craftsmanship, Industrial Design, Trends Forecasting, User Interaction, Motion Graphics, Usability, Design Research and Studio Engineering.
This role in summary
A portfolio highlighting multiple projects and your direct contributions will be needed to be considered for the role.
The Senior CMF Designer will drive the creation of strategic palette development for use across Whirlpool's global product portfolio.
This position is multi-disciplinary—the desire and ability to seamlessly work with other functions [Industrial Design, Interactive Design, Graphic Design, Marketing, and Engineering] in our US, Asia, Latin America and Mexico studios is critical.
Your responsibilities will include
Design, develop strategy and implement color, material and finish solutions for multiple brands of home appliances
Define and visualize brand experience through well crafted presentations
Forecast and analyze color, material and finish trends for regional and global products
Present and communicate color direction and strategy to a wide audience
Produce high quality renderings to effectively illustrate CMF solutions
Collaborate with other design disciplines, product marketing, development, and vendors to execute on overall project objectives, deliverables, and timelines
Create, maintain and communicate CMF strategy documents
Build and maintain relationships with business partners throughout the corporation
Mentor junior staff through peer reviews and consultation
Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design or equivalent creative background
5+ years of color, material and finish design experience
Preferred skills and experiences
Strong creative background with a passion for color and design
Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate communication across different disciplines
Strong visual communication skills
Strong project management skills
Ability to effectively sell your ideas
Excellent attention to detail
Strong decision-making abilities and self-motivation
Knowledge of product design and manufacturing processes including broad technical knowledge on materials and finishing (metals, plastics and coatings etc.)
Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and KeyShot
3D modeling ability is a plus
