Job Description
What is it all about?
We are seeking a highly commercial and strategic leader to join Visa as a Senior Director, Fintech & Strategic Partners, responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of high-growth and strategically important fintech clients across the UK & Ireland.
This role includes end-to-end ownership of a UK-headquartered global fintech client, alongside leadership of a team of 7 Account Executives covering UK fintechs, BIN sponsors, BNPL players, remitters, and embedded finance partners.
The successful candidate will combine deep client engagement, strategic account leadership and people management to drive sustained revenue growth, expand Visa’s product penetration, and position Visa as the partner of choice across the UK fintech ecosystem
What we expect of you, day to day:
Client Leadership and Delivery:
- Own and grow Visa’s relationships with a portfolio of strategic fintech clients, including a flagship global fintech headquartered in the UK.
- Deliver against ambitious net revenue, payment volume (PV), and growth targets, across core card products, value-added services, and money movement solutions.
- Develop and execute multi-year strategic account plans, ensuring strong pipeline development, retention, and expansion of existing partnerships.
- Identify and unlock new commercial opportunities aligned to client priorities and Visa’s strategic objectives.
- Ensure Visa maintains and strengthens its position as a preferred partner across the portfolio.
Strategic Relationship Management:
- Act as the senior and primary point of contact for key clients, engaging at executive level to shape long-term partnerships.
- Build deep, trusted relationships across client organisations and geographies, aligning Visa’s capabilities to client growth strategies.
- Provide thought leadership on payments innovation, fintech trends, and emerging solutions, ensuring clients benefit from Visa’s global expertise.
- Lead engagement across internal stakeholders, coordinating product, solutions, consulting, marketing, and regional/global teams to deliver client success.
Team Leadership & People Management:
- Lead, develop and inspire a team of 7 Account Executives, fostering a high-performance, collaborative and commercially driven culture.
- Provide coaching and strategic direction to ensure consistent delivery of commercial targets and client outcomes.
- Ensure effective prioritisation across the portfolio, aligning resources to the highest-impact opportunities.
- Build strong connectivity across Visa teams, driving alignment between local, regional and global stakeholders.
Strategy and Market Leadership:
- Define and execute the fintech and strategic partners strategy for the UK & Ireland, prioritising key segments such as fintechs, remitters, BNPL and embedded finance.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the payments landscape, including card and account-to-account solutions, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics.
- Identify opportunities to expand Visa’s presence in new growth areas, including non-card solutions and cross-border payments.
- Partner with issuers, fintechs, and ecosystem players to maximise spend and innovation on the Visa network
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
What we’re after:
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in payments, fintech, or financial services, with a strong track record in account management, business development, and P&L growth.
- Proven experience managing complex, strategic client relationships, ideally including global fintech or issuer partnerships.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to deliver revenue growth, negotiate complex deals, and build strategic business cases.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, including cards, money movement, and emerging fintech trends.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage credibly at executive level internally and externally.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication and collaboration skills in a matrixed organisation.
