This position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to create and modify the standard designs of equipment, systems, or installations, including standard specifications for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction, using standard design concepts. Each day, you will design engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to contract specifications. You will also showcase your expertise by contributing to design reviews and design verification and modifying the design, as necessary.

This role is contributing to the Mechanical Engineering Team/SwitchGear Business Line / ELDS in Egypt .
You will be mainly accountable for:

You will also showcase your expertise by contributing to design reviews and design verification and modifying the design, as necessary.

This role is contributing to the Mechanical Engineering Team/SwitchGear Business Line / ELDS in Egypt .
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Designing and developing sheet metal dies (blanking, piercing, bending, forming, progressive) and plastic injection molds (single/multi-cavity, family molds).
- Preparing strip layouts, gating systems (hot/cold runner), cooling layouts, and ejection mechanisms.
- Performing engineering calculations including press tonnage, forming force, bend allowance/deduction, shrinkage, and tolerance stack-up.
- Selecting appropriate tool steels, mold bases, heat treatment specifications, and standard components.
- Reviewing product designs for manufacturability (DFM) and recommending design improvements.
- Ensuring proper design of the product draft angles, wall thickness consistency, clearances, venting, and parting line optimization.
- Conducting DFMEA and risk analysis to improve tool reliability and reduce failure rates.
- Preparing detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and complete tooling BOM.
- Supporting tool room activities including CNC machining, wire cut/EDM, grinding, fitting, and assembly.
- Participating in tool trials (T0, T1, validation runs) and analyzing first-off samples.
- Troubleshooting and resolving tooling and production issues such as burrs, cracks, spring back, flash, short shots, sink marks, warpage, and dimensional deviations.
- Implementing corrective design modifications and continuous improvement actions.
- Optimizing tooling for cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, tool life improvement, and cost efficiency.
- Coordinating with Product Design, Production, Quality, and Procurement teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintaining documentation, revision control, and compliance with company and customer standards.
- Supporting cost estimation, timeline planning, and project tracking activities
Qualifications for the role:
- The minimum academic requirement is bachelor’s degree in mechanical design & production (5 years degree).
- 3-5 years of experience in a medium-high range company focus on design and production as mechanical engineer.
- Good Knowledge of production process, material selection, heat treatment
- Strong experience as user of Solidworks with advanced level including Sheet Metal & plastic mold design.
- Sheet Metal & Plastic manufacturing Techniques, Metal work and Metal Forming Process, good experience with Engineering Material selection.
- Experience with metal & Plastic work, metal & Plastic forming (turning, milling , die forging , Injection Mold ….)
- Solid Experience with plastic mold design is mandatory
- Solid Experience with sheet metal die design is mandatory
- Ability to work in team, precision, and analytical skills.
