The Practice Excellence Education Specialist reports to the enterprise the AVP of Practice Excellence for the aligned service line or identified system director. The education specialist supports service line initiatives by planning and creating education in support of nursing professional standards of care for the related service line or general nursing/compliance standards. In support of alignment with Intermountain Health’s mission, vision and operating models for continuous improvement, the education specialist will collaborate with key stakeholders across the service line or nursing services to plan education to meet caregiver needs. Additionally, the education specialist will oversee orientation curriculums to ensure caregiver competency, quality, and operational efficiency. The education specialist expertly utilizes innovative and current learning principles and professional evidence-based best practice standards, fostering learning and sparking the spirit of inquiry.Scope
This is a system-level role directly reporting to the AVP of Practice Excellence for the appropriate service line or the identified system director within the Professional Development & Practice Excellence Department.
Job Essentials
Collaborate with clinical leaders and other key stakeholders to create education plans with consideration for effective aligned with organizational goals, containing actionable objectives, measurable outcomes, identified resource requirements, and implementation timelines.
Develop storyboards based on consultation with clinical stakeholders.
Monitor and maintain assigned orientation curricula (hospitals, clinics, homecare) and associated learning resources, and assuring the orientation is relevant and succinct.
Collaborate with simulation experts in producing clinically relevant simulation scenarios.
Collaborate with electronic health record (EHR) experts to ensure relevant clinical workflow training modules.
Consult with continuous improvement team to complete education plans for clinical CI projects (e.g., TWI).
Develop learning needs assessment tools and related implementation plans for use by Nursing Professional Development Leaders and unit educators to ensure safe nursing practice.
Support content management for nursing professional development related technology solutions (Competency and/or Learning Management Systems).
- Participate in swarms, if necessary, to meet emergent clinical education needs.
- Build relationships with leaders in all clinical settings or programs to provide the appropriate education resources to support enterprise initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Current RN license in state of practice.
Demonstrated experience in development, management and implementation of major learning/development initiatives.
Demonstrated experience in clinical nursing experience in the related service line of assigned area.
Professional Nursing Certification in related specialty, if not certified, must be certified within one year of hire.
Communicate and write professionally with grammatically correct language.
Demonstrated performance consulting skills with all levels of leadership that ensure the effective use of learning to support desired outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and influence across a large, matrixed organization.
Experience in a role requiring collaboration and strong customer service orientation, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with professionals at all levels.
Experience working in interdisciplinary relationships and collaborative efforts to design and implement optimal learning solutions.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and consensus-building communication skills.
Ability to travel on occasion.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional educator certification.
Data and analytic experience.
Experience with effectively utilizing information systems, software, and technologies to design, develop, deliver and evaluate learning, including Learning Management Systems, Learning Content Management System, and E-learning development software.
