Role Overview
As a Cytotechnologist – Float, you will support accurate and timely diagnostic services by performing cytotechnology testing and evaluating cytology specimens across designated BayCare facilities. This role requires flexibility to float as needed based on operational and staffing needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing cytotechnology testing and screening of cytology specimens
- Assisting with the preparation of cytology specimens and fine needle aspirations
- Classifying and evaluating specimens and referring findings to a Pathologist as needed
- Identifying abnormal or suspicious cellular findings
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and supply inventory
- Ensuring accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance in all testing activities
- Performing other duties as assigned in support of diagnostic operations
Qualifications
Education
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Bachelor’s requirement may be waived if certified prior to 1985
Experience
- Cytotechnology experience preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of Cytotechnology experience preferred
Licensure / Certification
Required:
- ASCP Certified Cytotechnologist
- State of Florida licensure (or eligibility)
