
Disability Management Specialist
Job Description
The Role
Key Responsibilities:
Full-Cycle Claims Management: Manage full-cycle short-term and long-term disability claims, facilitating the application process by working closely with employees and direct managers to explain the process and gather assessment information.
Return-to-Work Coordination: Partner with external vendors to determine appropriate return-to-work goals, coordinate return-to-work meetings, and actively support the planning process between employees and supervisors (intervening when necessary).
Training & Development: Develop and implement disability management training sessions for the organization.
Trend Analysis & Reporting: Prepare detailed statistical trend analysis, develop regional injury/trend reports, and expedite monthly reports using graphs and charts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with vendors, operations teams, HR, and stakeholders to focus on early and safe return to work, accommodations, and modified duties.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: 2–3 years of experience in an HR function, with exposure to disability management.
Education: College Diploma or University Degree specializing in Human Resources, with an interest in Disability Management.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization; strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy; self-starting, proactive, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus Points: Comprehensive knowledge of disability management, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and the Employment Standards Act.
