Structuring, Spread Product, Vice President Gift City Branch
Job Description
Citi is launching its Spread Products business within our new IFSC Banking Unit (IBU) in GIFT City, scheduled to go live in Q2 2026. This is a foundational, high-visibility role for an entrepreneurial and detail-oriented professional to help build our business from the ground up.
The successful candidate will initially be responsible for establishing the end-to-end operational and booking framework for complex credit transactions structured by our APAC teams, specifically in Structured Trading & Financing and Real Estate Financing & Securitization. As the business and the GIFT City ecosystem mature, this role will evolve to include proactive business development and the origination of new transactions for the Spread Products platform.
This is a unique opportunity to become a subject matter expert in a strategic growth area for the firm, requiring a blend of operational excellence, regulatory acumen, and commercial drive.
Key Responsibilities:
Phase 1: Foundational & Operational Setup (First 12-18 months)
- Process Architecture: Establish and manage the entire local booking process for structured credit and real estate financing transactions, ensuring seamless execution from deal inception to settlement within the GIFT City framework.
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between the APAC structured & real estate desks and all local control functions, including Operations, Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Risk.
- Regulatory Expertise: Develop a deep, working knowledge of the IFSCA regulatory framework. Translate regulations into practical, compliant operational procedures for new and existing products.
- Operational Playbooks: Create and maintain detailed process maps and playbooks for executing and booking structured loans, securitizations, and other spread products through the IBU.
Phase 2: Business Development & Transaction Origination (Long-term)
- Ecosystem Engagement: Proactively build a network within the GIFT City financial community, including other financial institutions, legal and advisory firms, and potential corporate clients.
- Transaction Initiation: As the platform matures, identify and originate new transaction opportunities for the Spread Products business, leveraging your network and market knowledge.
- Deal Execution: Work with the APAC teams to provide on-the-ground expertise for executing locally-originated deals, from initial client discussions to final booking.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: 6+ years of relevant experience in structured finance, credit trading, securitization, or capital markets at a leading financial institution.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of credit products is essential. Direct experience in structured credit, real estate financing, or securitization is highly preferred.
- Regulatory Acumen: Demonstrated experience navigating complex regulatory environments. Knowledge of Indian capital markets and/or IFSC regulations is a significant plus.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders across different functions and geographies.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Law, or a related field. MBA, CA, or CFA is highly desirable.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- An entrepreneurial self-starter with a "builder" mindset who is comfortable with ambiguity and creating new processes.
- A natural problem-solver who can independently research and navigate new regulatory and operational challenges.
- An excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively with senior stakeholders across the region.
- Possesses an extremely high level of attention to detail, particularly regarding legal, tax, and compliance matters.
