Job Description
The Wash Bay Manager oversees a team of part-time vehicle detailers and ensures all vehicles are cleaned, prepared, and maintained to the highest standards. This role is critical in delivering a safe, clean, and ready-to-drive experience for customers participating in off-road activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of approximately four detailers, including scheduling, performance oversight, and ensuring timely, high-quality work.
- Coordinate staffing needs for daily operations, special events, and rapid fleet turnaround requirements.
- Perform and oversee thorough vehicle cleaning and preparation, including exterior, interior, undercarriage, and engine bay.
- Inspect vehicles for safety concerns; identify and report warning lights, damage (vehicle, windshield, tires), and remove vehicles from service as needed.
- Fuel and stage vehicles to ensure readiness for customer use.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure supplies are stocked and readily available.
- Identify and report unsafe or hazardous conditions in the work area.
- Ensure team compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and proper use of cleaning and sanitization supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness of parking areas and back-of-house spaces.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Model company values in all interactions with customers, team members, and partners.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or management experience in vehicle detailing or a related field.
- Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Availability to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing environments.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to take direction and respond constructively to feedback.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems effectively.
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Visual requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, including while operating a vehicle.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet operational demands.
