Job Title: Safety & Security Specialist

Reports To: Safety and Security Manager
Location: Ventura, CA - Onsite
Compensation: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour USD
Patagonia is seeking an experienced, compassionate Safety & Security Specialist with strong judgment and a proactive, approachable presence. This role is critical to protecting our people, spaces, and values while fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all.

What You’ll Do / Job Functions:
Serve as a proactive, approachable Safety & Security presence, helping protect people, property, and workplace culture.
Conduct patrols on foot, bicycle, or patrol vehicle to identify and address hazards, risks, and unsafe conditions.
Respond to incidents including medical emergencies, fire alarms, suspicious activity, and environmental hazards, using sound judgment in evolving situations.
Lead or assist in emergency evacuations, drills, and incident response efforts.
Provide first aid and emergency medical support; maintain certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
Identify risks, recommend improvements, and take action to help prevent incidents before they occur.
Support safety coverage for child and outdoor programs, ensuring protocols are followed and responding to incidents as needed.
Monitor and operate security and safety systems including CCTV, access control, intrusion and fire alarms, and emergency communication tools.
Partner with management, PC+J, and Facilities to maintain a safe, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
Engage with employees, visitors, and community members in a respectful, service-oriented manner that builds trust.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety regulations, and emergency response standards.
Document incidents, hazards, and activities with clear, accurate, and timely reporting.
Assist in improving safety programs, procedures, and training initiatives.
Other duties as assigned by management.

Experience You Bring / Job Requirements:
Preferred 3–5+ years of experience in physical security, emergency response, customer service, or related fields preferred.
Experience in incident management, emergency response, or related crisis situations; outdoor experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in dynamic or time-sensitive situations.
High school diploma or GED; must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass a criminal background check and successfully complete a Live Scan.
Ability to obtain and maintain a California BSIS Guard Card within 90 days of offer (company support available).
Current or obtainable certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
Familiarity with OSHA standards and fire safety regulations.
Working knowledge of standard business tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Zoom).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physical duties including walking, standing, climbing stairs, and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions.
Comfortable working in environments that may be noisy, confined, or require situational awareness.
Schedule:
Full-time role with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts based on operational needs.
Ability to work a variable schedule, including schedule changes or extended hours in response to emergencies.
Occasional travel may be required for offsite coverage; travel is infrequent, planned in advance, and company-paid.
Hiring Range: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour USD
