Position Summary:

The Senior Buyer plays a critical role in driving supply continuity, team leadership, and strategic initiatives across the Supply Chain department. The Senior Buyer is responsible for optimizing procurement processes, strengthening supplier partnerships, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance operational performance amongst the entire Procurement Team. This role partners closely with Planning, Product Development, Sourcing, Field Asset Management, Quality, and Operations to ensure that incoming supply aligns with business needs and long‑term growth objectives.  Your work directly supports our mission of delivering high‑quality medical devices that improve patient outcomes while providing the best value to the Supply Chain organization. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analytical work, problem solving, coaching and mentoring, external partnership building, and who wants to grow in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment.

Essential functions:

Supply Continuity & Forecast Alignment

  • Partners with contract manufacturers to ensure that Globus’ forecasted demand is achievable and planned for within the manufacturer’s production schedules

  • Works closely with Planning to understand upcoming demand, trends, and risks that may impact supplier performance and communicates shifting business needs to suppliers

  • Completes long-range rough cut capacity planning with contract manufacturers to proactively allocate machining assets to forecasted buy volume, address any gaps in the supply plan.

  • Tracks delivery performance throughout the month and partners with manufacturing regarding late items

  • Conducts periodic supplier visits based on business importance and operational needs

Supplier Management & Cross‑Functional Integration

  • Partners with Product Development and Sourcing to ensure new products or sourced components align with supplier capabilities, capacity, and core competencies.

  • Helps to design the supplier network by reviewing open quote packages with suppliers, providing feedback, and driving business awards

  • Evaluates supplier quality performance monthly and collaborates with Quality to address trends or recurring issues.

  • Drives supplier delivery performance to maintain OTIF targets.

  • Manages supplier quality performance with contract manufacturers.  

Cost, Efficiency, and Process Improvement

  • Identifies and executes cost‑reduction opportunities, including internal process efficiencies and purchase price improvements.

  • Actively negotiates purchase price with contract manufacturers to maintain gross sales margin

  • Leads continuous‑improvement initiatives within Purchasing Operations to streamline workflows and enhance data accuracy, visibility, and decision‑making

  • Supports the development of scalable procurement processes that align with organizational growth.

  • Leads intradepartmental coaching and development sessions with the Purchasing Team to enhance buyer’s acumen in procurement and medical device

Operational Execution

  • Executes purchase orders in accordance with planning requirements for assigned suppliers.

  • Adheres to financial compliance and operational policies within procurement activities

  • Ensures 100% commitment to immediate supply needs and proactively mitigates supply risks by managing inventory health and anticipated supplier delivery dates

  • Maintains strong, professional partnerships with suppliers to support long‑term strategic objectives.

Compliance and Ethics:

  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies

  • Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role

  • Represents the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong negotiation capability

  • Influential leader with the ability to provide coaching and guidance to the Procurement Team

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier partnerships, interpret forecasts, and drive supply‑chain performance

  • Strong customer‑service orientation when working with internal and external stakeholders

Preferred:

  • Medical Device or related field experience

  • Experience leading a team of individuals

  • ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP)

  • Experience leading supplier‑related projects or process‑improvement initiatives

  • Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
