ALN Coordinator/s
Purpose of the Role
To support students with additional learning needs in accessing the curriculum, developing independence, and making progress within an inclusive learning environment. The ALN Assistant works collaboratively with teachers, the ALN team, students, and families to help ensure that every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.


Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Students
● Provide targeted support for students with identified additional learning needs, both within the classroom and through agreed interventions.
● Support students in accessing learning, following classroom routines, and developing independence.
● Encourage student confidence, engagement, and participation in school life.
● Assist in implementing individual support plans and recommended strategies.
● Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teachers and the ALN Coordinator.
Supporting Teaching and Learning
● Work alongside class and subject teachers to support inclusive classroom practice.
● Adapt resources and learning materials as directed by teaching staff or the ALN Coordinator.
● Support the delivery of intervention programmes and small-group activities where appropriate.
● Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Working with the ALN Team
● Attend relevant meetings and training sessions.
● Maintain accurate records of support provided and student progress.
● Follow school policies relating to safeguarding, inclusion, confidentiality, and student wellbeing.
● Contribute to reviews of student provision as required.

Supporting Student Wellbeing
● Build positive relationships with students and promote their wellbeing.
● Encourage resilience, self-advocacy, and independence.
● Support students during transitions and other key stages of their school journey.
Person Specification:
Essential
● Experience of working with children or young people.
● Good communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
● Organised, flexible, and able to work as part of a team.
● Commitment to inclusion and supporting diverse learning needs.
● High level of spoken and written English. Desirable
● Experience of supporting students with additional learning needs.
● Relevant qualifications or training in education, child development, or inclusion.
● Experience working in an international or bilingual school environment.
● Knowledge of common learning needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, speech and
language difficulties, or social and emotional needs.

● Students are engaged, supported, and able to access learning effectively.
● Support plans and classroom strategies are implemented consistently.
● Positive relationships are maintained with students, teachers, and families.
● Students demonstrate progress towards their individual targets and increasing independence.
● The ALN team operates collaboratively and effectively to support inclusive practice across the school.
