About the role
A Podiatrist opportunity has become available within Eastern Health's Hospital in the Home (HITH) service. Based at Maroondah Hospital with the opportunity to provide care to the patient in their home as required. This role offers a unique opportunity to deliver specialised podiatry care within an innovative model of acute care, supporting patients to receive hospital-level treatment in their homes, residential care facilities and HITH clinics.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced clinician with expertise in managing complex foot pathology and high-risk foot complications. You will provide assessment and treatment including wound management, excisional debridement, offloading and management of conditions such as diabetic foot complications, Charcot neuroarthropathy, peripheral arterial disease, infection and other high-risk presentations. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to positive patient outcomes and help prevent deterioration and avoidable hospital admissions.
As a valued member of the HITH team, you will participate in multidisciplinary care planning, contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives, provide education as required, and support effective discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. You will be an enthusiastic and adaptable clinician with strong communication, clinical reasoning and organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent patient-centred care.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a growing specialist service while being supported by experienced clinical leaders and a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Essential:
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Podiatry.
- Current registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia.
- Eligibility for membership of Australian Podiatry Association Ltd.
- Experience managing complex foot pathology and high-risk foot complications
- Sound understanding of public and private health podiatry referral pathways
- Demonstrated high level communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated high level clinical skills and commitment to evidenced based practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to person centre care.
- Demonstrated capacity to work and show leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated experience in supervision of students.
- Demonstrated ability to introduce innovative practice.
- Commitment to improving own practice and undertaking quality and research activities.
- Demonstrated understanding of professional codes of conduct.
- Hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence.
- Hold current WWC
- Willingness to work across all Eastern Health Sites.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a hospital setting.
- Experience working in a community health setting.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
