Job Description
Vena Energy is seeking a motivated and safety‑conscious Technician or Trades Assistant to join our diverse and collaborative operations and maintenance team.
This is a site-based role, where the level of responsibility will be aligned to your skills, experience, and trade background. You will support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the site while contributing to a respectful and inclusive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Management
Assist with establishing, reviewing and modifying check sheets and inspection documentation for equipment and machinery on site (structures, LV Plant, civil, mechanical, facility, etc.).
Assist with establishing, reviewing and modifying specific plans and procedures (e.g. vegetation maintenance plan)
Undertake basic inspections and repair of equipment and machinery on site.
Perform preventative or corrective maintenance of plant and equipment based on OEM or other approved procedures and plans.
Undertake vegetation management and general grounds duties.
Undertake general duties including cleaning, housekeeping and inventory control as required.
Medium Voltage/High Voltage Operations
Participate in HV switching activities as required to the extent allowable by training and competency.
Asset Operations (PV/Wind)
Undertaking work as outlined in preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with management plans, manuals and legislative requirements.
Perform regular stock management and audit of spares to ensure required spares are available and correctly stored.
Any other general duty required to meet Tailem Bend O&M performance or HSSE KPIs to the extent training and competency permits.
Respond to incident, outages and emergencies to the extent training and competency permits.
Maintain registers, check sheets, and complete all required reports as required.
Risk Assessment & HSSE Management
Assist with the implementation of Vena Energy’s Integrated Management System (IMS), across the site.
Support with the development and review of HSSE documentation including Risk Registers, SWMS, procedures, permits, audit findings etc.
Participate HSSE workshops and other HSSE activities including inspections, audits & investigations.
Open to candidates at Trades Assistant or Technician level depending on experience and qualifications.
Must have:
Completion of Year 10 schooling
Mechanical knowledge; able to maintain and repair equipment and machinery.
Competent in the use of power and hand tools
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices
Capable of managing tasks independently and efficiently
Good situational awareness in dynamic work environments
Experience engaging with local communities or stakeholders
Valid Class C Manual Driver’s Licence
Good to have:
Proven experience in a trade or skilled profession
Minimum one year of experience working on an operational solar asset or in a similar industry
Practical experience with HSSE systems and protocols
Solid understanding of corporate HSSE and quality management systems
Knowledge of legislative requirements related to Landcare and environmental management
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Forklift operation certification and experience
Valid ACDC Licence (Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control)
