Professional Building Consultants Ltd (PBC) is a respected, privately owned Accredited Organisation Building (AOB) providing high-quality building consent and inspection services. We are committed to technical excellence, professional integrity, and continuous improvement.
We are seeking an experienced Quality and Training Lead to play a critical role in managing and maintaining our accreditation systems and leading competency, training, and technical assurance across the business.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager – Quality & Training, and working closely with PBC Directors and senior technical staff, this role is responsible for:
- Maintaining compliance with the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006
- Supporting and coordinating BCA accreditation and re-accreditation assessments
- Managing accredited policies, procedures, registers, audits, and corrective actions
- Delivering competency assessments and technical training for technical staff
- Providing technical leadership and guidance across the organisation
This is a hands-on, influential role with real scope to shape systems, uplift capability, and support the ongoing success of PBC.
Primary Objectives
- Ensuring that PBC meets its IANZ BCA Accreditation requirements and retains its Approved Organisation (Building) status.
- The ongoing development of the PBC Accredited Policies and Procedures system
- Lead the delivery of the PBC’s Quality Management systems
- Support and deliver the competency assessment program to all technical staff
- Co-ordinate and deliver technical training to new and existing staff
- Oversee the technical audit program
- Provide technical leadership for the PBC team
- Provide a high quality, professional service to the clients and customers of PBC.
About you
We’re looking for a confident, detail-oriented professional who brings both technical credibility and strong
organisational skills.
You will ideally have:
- Strong knowledge of BCA accreditation requirements and IANZ processes
- Experience in building control, regulatory compliance, or quality systems
- A solid understanding of the NZ Building Code and regulatory framework
- Experience delivering or coordinating audits, assessments, or training
- High-level written skills for policies, reports, and technical documentation
- The ability to work collaboratively with Directors, managers, councils, and staff
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
- You must have qualifactions that meet Regulation 18 of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consents Authorities) Regulations 2006
Previous experience in a BCA, council, or accredited private certification environment will be highly regarded.
