
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Description
Position administers specified evaluations, conducts general activity programs and assists in implementing specific treatment programs under the guidance of a Occupational Therapist. Functions as an interdisciplinary team member under the direction of an Occupational Therapist. Evaluates activities of daily living status, as well as assists the OTR in the implementation of a formulated treatment plan, enabling patients to reach optimum functional performance. Provides quality occupational therapy services according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy.
- Utilizes the most appropriate form of treatment provided with the highest level of care.
- Integrates information, prioritizes needs and carries out a program of care for assigned patients. Documents patient care efficiently and effectively.
- Instructs patients in routine motor activities and activities of daily living to enhance occupational therapy.
- Maintains open communication with the Occupational Therapist regarding patient’s performance and progress. Provides adequate discharge planning, recommends discharge to the therapist when appropriate.
- Maintains and upgrades skills in the field by retaining membership in relevant professional organizations, attending educational workshops/conferences, self-study, inservices etc.
- Achieves departmental productivity standards to ensure the availability of patient care
- Completes checklist, which includes annual and periodic competency requirements.
- Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
- Minimum Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
- Current license in the State of Arizona.
- CPR.
- Special Skills: Excellent customer service skills
