Job Description Summary:
North America Operating Unit (NAOU) allocates a $1 billion annual budget for transportation, managing over 600,000 shipments each year. The Strategic Transportation Team is dedicated to securing the necessary capacity from transportation providers, ensuring optimal cost-efficiency while meeting service standards to support our customers and facilities effectively.
Position Overview
The Manager, Transportation Sourcing and Performance is responsible for overseeing both long-term and short-term transportation capacity needs, ensuring compliance with the transportation budget. Their duties encompass carrier management, capacity procurement, analytical support, and management of forecasts and awards. Additionally, this role involves monitoring and managing the tactical performance of approximately 80 carriers to meet North America Operating Unit (NAOU) KPI requirements.

What You’ll Do for Us
- Collaborate with Global Logistics Services to procure rates and capacity that support NAOU's long-term and short-term transportation needs.
- Oversee the annual bid process, ensuring the accuracy of lane identification, volume, special customer requirements, lane characteristics, and plant information.
- Make award decisions that align with financial and service objectives.
- Manage daily tactical relationships with carriers, establish regular meeting routines, and provide necessary support to facilitate their success.
- Lead quarterly operational reviews with top strategic carriers.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to identify opportunities for financial and performance improvements and implement necessary actions.
- Use forecasting tools and other reports to determine volume requirements and communicate with primary carriers on lanes.
- Perform market benchmarking to support sourcing and business initiatives for sales, finance, supply planning, NPSG, and other teams.
- Manage carrier performance by utilizing various tools to address all KPIs that fall below required goals, such as Primary Tender Acceptance, On-Time Pick Up, On-Time Delivery, EDI and Shipment Delay Compliance, and FourKites Tracking and Tracking Quality.
- Oversee and track the progress of all carrier Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), promptly implementing corrective actions when carriers do not meet performance standards. The individual must adhere to the PIP process and act swiftly to ensure customer performance remains compliant with established standards
- Provide additional focused attention to priority customers and key foodservice distributors to enhance KPI performance and reduce fines and fees.
Qualifications and Requirements
- College degree is required, with a preference for Supply Chain or Logistics.
- Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Strong ability to utilize Power BI for report filtering, downloading, and reviewing.
- Preferably, 3+ years of experience in over-the-road truckload transportation.
- Knowledge and experience with Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) or other Transportation Management Systems.
- Excellent communication skills: capable of effectively communicating across all levels of internal and external organizations, with strong written and verbal skills, including handling difficult conversations.
- Strong organizational skills: able to prioritize and manage short-term, mid-term, and long-term tasks to meet deadlines effectively.
