We are excited to announce the opening of a brand-new dialysis clinic in Ennis this November and are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Freelance General Practitioner to join our growing multidisciplinary team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern renal care environment, supporting patients with chronic kidney disease while helping shape services in a newly established clinic.
Position Details
- Role: General Practitioner (GP)
- Location: Ennis
- Hourly rate up to €135
- Hours: Minimum 15 hours per week on a freelance basis
- Flexibility: Hours must be worked flexibly across clinic shifts to support patient needs
- Future Growth: Opportunity for additional hours as patient numbers increase
About the Role
- Assess patient progress and make diagnosis
- Initiate and monitor any drug treatment and develop treatment plans
- Order review and analyse diagnostic tests including monthly blood tests
- Coordinate with specialist nurses and clinicians to ensure timely activation on the transplant list.
- Coordinate with nephrologists, specialist nurses and vascular access radiologist and surgeons to maximise the utility of their vascular access.
- Be available for ward rounds with the primary nephrologist and the monthly multidisciplinary / QA meeting in the clinic
- Conduct a weekly meeting with the clinic manager to troubleshoot patient or unit issues
- Document all decisions, assessments and changes in the medical records, both physical (e.g. paper based) as well as electronic health records.
- Communicate effectively with the patient on all matters relating to their care and with relatives and carers as appropriate and with their primary care physicians if required.
- Work with the Director of Nursing and Clinic Operations at Fresenius to ensure policies and practice are updated, audit outcomes are reviewed, and actions completed, and key performance indicators are regularly reviewed and improvements implemented.
- Maintain high standards of care by continuing education and taking opportunities to further knowledge of renal practice and dialysis
- Keep up to date with clinical practice guidelines and audit measures, advise and lead to implement changes as required to ensure ongoing compliance
- Support health promotion among patients and staff, including vaccinating programmes.
Requirements:
- Must be registered with the Irish Medical council.
- Responsible for own professional fees and insurance.
- Responsible for invoicing FME on a monthly basis for all hours worked, on call or additional hours only to be worked with prior approval from FME.
