Job Summary:
The Human Resources (“HR”) Generalist position will primarily focus on providing support onsite to our Warehouse/Distribution center team and will also support HR Operations. This role will also work closely with the onsite HR Business Partner on employee relations issues, performance management, coaching, counseling, team member development, and retention. The HR Generalist will also be able to partner more broadly with the HR department on other assigned duties and projects.
Job Expectations:
Investigate, document and resolve employee complaints/grievances. Investigations can include, but not limited to peer, supervisor complaints, sexual harassment, discrimination, etc.;
Assists in handling employee Federal, State and company leave of absence, including discussions with employees, processing of leave of absence paperwork, tracking and collection of benefits premium payments, and communication verbally and written with employees on leave;
Provides advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation;
Coordinates the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries;
Supports in performance management, working closely with department managers and supervisors to support our Pay for Performance journey at iHerb;
Reviews, edits and approves team member written warnings, coaching plans, and performance snapshots prior to being issued to team members;
Makes recommendations to management regarding separation of employment for specific employees;
Holds clear and persuasive conversations providing specific benefits, State and Federal information to employees;
Responds to unemployment claims, if needed, verbally and written in a timely manner;
Provides support to other HR teams in recruitment, engagement, benefits, wellness, recognition and communication.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Fluent in English and Bilingual in Spanish preferred;
Knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, PDL, USERRA, ADA, and Worker’s Compensation Laws, both Federal and for the State of California;
Hands-on experience with processing documentation, interactive process discussions, managing records;
Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines and knowledge of Federal and State employment and benefit laws;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations;
Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public;
Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations;
Job requires being sensitive to other’s needs/feelings and taking an objective position when gathering facts when dealing with sensitive situations;
Ability to work with little supervision, independently and searches out answers as needed to resolve issues/problems;
Ability to travel locally to other locations.
Experience Requirements: Generally requires 2-5 years of experience in Human Resources with an emphasis in Employee Relations and Leave Administration. HR Generalist experience in other HR areas preferred.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, SPHR/PHR certification or related field preferred or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
Equipment Knowledge:
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ability to create spreadsheets in Excel. Experience with HRIS a plus.
Ability to use, copier, computer and other office-related equipment
Judgment/Reasoning Ability: Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. The Team Member is frequently required to sit, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop and reach with hands and arms. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. The Team Member may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 25 pounds. Proper lifting techniques required.
