- Applies to select high-need departments:
- Emergency Department (ED)
- ICU/Tele
- Progressive Intermediate Care (PIP)
- Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg)
- Maternal & Child Health (MCH)
- This differential is applied before any shift, weekend, or night differentials
- Extra $4/hour for RNs working 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Available in select high-need units:
- ED
- ICU/Tele
- PIP
- Paid in addition to standard shift and weekend differentials
- Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Emergency Department
- Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination
- Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area
- Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses
- Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
- Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy
- Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment
- Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area
- Ability to recognize unsafe and life-threatening situations and how to intervene appropriately
- Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make appropriate independent decisions
- Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
- Demonstrated compassionate customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues
- Solid foundation in evaluating plans of care and reformulating as necessary
