Job Description
Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. Located in South America, Suriname was originally settled as a Dutch colony, is very culturally diverse and enjoys a tropical climate. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Purpose
To ensure and maintain accurate logs of all cargo transportation and goods, monitor deliveries and proceed with transport planning.
Essential Duties
- Attend and complete all Safety Training that are required for all employees within the profession/level (Department)
- Read, comprehend, interpret and learn Material Safety Data Sheet, labels on products, warning signs, and instruction manuals to prevent loss of personnel, property and process.
- Working with the SAP System
- Issuing of requested inventory stock items to the various Departments
- Picking of requested Inventory stock items
- Timely feedback to end-users regarding the status of any requested inventory item.
- Interact with the Dispatchers team of the Warehouse regarding stock items that needs to be delivered to the end-users
- Crediting of stock items into the inventory that are returned to the warehouse by the various Departments
- Locating of the credited stock items into their specific location
- Interact with other Department at Merian Mine to support the Supply Chain’s activities.
- Initiatives to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work activities.
- Ability to work either independent or as part of a team and have good problem solving skills.
- Replenishment of stock items that are stored in bulk in the containers (e.g. Filters) on the pallet racking
- Attend the training on all equipment that are available at the Warehouse for the picking and transport of stock items
Training & Experience
- Secondary Modern School
- Suriname Driver’s license
- 1-2 years’ experience in Warehousing is a pre.
- Computer skills: MS Office, Excel
- Excellent English, fluency in Dutch is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Wear personal protective equipment including steel toe shoes, safety glasses, earplugs, long sleeved shirts, or any other equipment to perform duties safely when required.
- 14-7 shift 10 hours per day.
