
Senior Civil Engineer
Job Description
- Carry out assigned civil design and documentation as delegated in support of technical and commercial standards.
- Comply with all role-specific HSEQ responsibilities
- Deliver technical expertise across a broad range of projects.
- Apply safety in design practices and processes at a high level.
- Lead projects based on scope, complexity or specific request.
- Identify business development opportunities and support proposal preparation within area of expertise.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and project specifications
- Effectively communicate complex technical matters to clients.
- Provides technical leadership, mentoring, and quality oversight to Civil Design staff.
- Stay current with industry developments and emerging methodologies.
- Align work with team objectives and company policies.
- Conduct cross-discipline reviews, constructability assessments, and clash detection.
- Assess staff performance in accordance with HR procedures.
- Execute tasks assigned by Team Leads or Regional Executives, aligned with expertise.
- Actively contribute to company initiatives such as the Professional Associate Program and PANs
- Assist and support Transport Digital Engineering Pillars.
- Developing knowledge in carbon management in design.
- Excellent time management skills (prioritising and follow-up).
- Certification on Project Management Level 1 (PMCP Level 1). Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Help managers develop their team members through career pathing.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science or Equivalent
- Ideally, 10 plus year’ industry experience on Australian projects.
- Proficient in geometric highway design using BIM software such as Civil 3D, 12D, OpenRoads, Dynamo, OpenRail, ProjectWise, Bluebeam, Navisworks, InfraWorks, or equivalent
- Extensive knowledge of relevant industry related Australian Standards, local Road Authority Standards and other road and civil design standards.
- Understanding of related safety in design practices and processes with emphasis on road safety outcomes.
- Awareness of BIM inter-disciplinary coordination.
- Demonstrated knowledge of WSP's organisational capability and how to access it.
- Demonstrated knowledge of systems, procedures and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organisational approach to risk management, ethics and safety.
- Proven ability to prepare technical reports and review large project reports.
- Demonstrated experience in monitoring and managing the scope of multiple projects of varying complexity and size.
- Experienced in winning job from a job.
- Delivered best client outcomes/options which have saved the client costs/time.
- Experience in identifying and managing risk on substantial projects.
- Experienced in developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Proven ability in building the technical capability of others and transferring technical expertise within the organisation.
- Experience in supervising graduates and professionals and managing small teams.
