Job Description

A Day in the Life:

An Albertsons Bartender begins each shift by preparing the bar area, stocking supplies, reviewing inventory levels, and ensuring everything is clean and compliant with health standards. Throughout the day, they serve a variety of beverages while engaging customers with friendly, attentive service and promoting a welcoming atmosphere centered around food and drink exploration. During busy periods, they maintain an efficient pace, accurately process transactions, and manage the cash drawer while multitasking between orders. They also monitor guest safety and ensure responsible alcohol service. As the shift winds down, the bartender cleans and organizes the bar, conducts inventory counts, and reconciles the register, ensuring all operations are accurate and ready for the next day.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality bar service by preparing and serving beverages according to standard recipes and portion controls
  • Create an engaging bar environment that promotes food and beverage exploration, education, and innovation
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring guest satisfaction and safety at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area in compliance with company policies and local health regulations
  • Accurately manage the cash drawer, including processing transactions and reconciling discrepancies
  • Conduct nightly alcohol inventory and monitor stock levels to support accurate ordering and cost control
  • Maintain efficient service pace in a fast-paced environment to minimize customer wait times
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and company policies for drink preparation and handling
  • Collaborate with team members to support overall store and department operations

  • Awareness of local alcohol laws and responsible service practices
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel or similar tools)
  • Knowledge of wines, beers, and spirits (or willingness to expand expertise)

 

Abilities

  • Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining accuracy and customer focus
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and during peak business hours
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and retain information
  • Strong mathematical skills for handling cash transactions and inventory counts
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks (lifting, reaching, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful situations
  • Ability to identify and respond to safety or service issues promptly
  • Capability to maintain consistent work quality and performance standards

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum of 2 years of bartending experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must maintain a valid Bartender License
  • Must maintain a current state Food Handler’s Permit
  • Strong communication and customer service skills required
  • Ability to interact with customers professionally, with a friendly and engaging demeanor
  • Basic computer literacy preferred (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Willingness to expand knowledge of wines, beers, and spirits
  • Ability to follow instructions and retain/comprehend information
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory
  • Strong organizational, accuracy, and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow product knowledge
  • Ability to work under stress and meet time constraints
  • Must adhere to company dress code and uniform requirements
