Job Description

Some of what you will do:

The Senior Payroll Analyst will be responsible for the collection, processing and auditing of the company’s payroll. The incumbent will liaise with company associates, HR and Finance on payroll related matters maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

 

Specifically, you will:

Data Processing and Analysis: 50%

  • Process payroll using Dayforce payroll system 

  • Monitor time and attendance system 

  • Analyze and calculate accuracy of associate accruals 

  • Reconcile and resolve payroll GL issues 

  • Generate, load and audit database interfaces – analyze and reconcile discrepancies 

  • Audit and reconcile any ROE discrepancies 

  • Run various audit reports and queries pre and post payroll transmission – work with payroll team to resolve discrepancies 

  • Process audit and upload various load files into payroll system 

  • Test system implementations and updates and perform user acceptance testing 

  • Audit payroll and HRIS output – analyze and reconcile discrepancies between internal databases 

  • Manage and reallocate team workload and escalate matters to the Supervisor and/or Manager, as necessary 

  • Provide vacation back up for other team members 

  • Identify obstacles, take initiative, make recommendations and execute necessary actions to overcome issues to ensure successful transmission of payroll 

  • Assist with year-end activities 

  • Comply and stay abreast of provincial and federal payroll regulations 

 

Internal / External Communications and Inquiries: 40% 

  • Support store management and home office staff on all payroll, benefits and processing issues including verifying and sending records of employment 

  •  Work with vendors and outside government agencies 

  •  Support and/or analyze associate payments and balances 

  •  Support system implementations and updates 

 

Filing: 10% 

  • Basic filing of payroll associated information. 

 

Some of what you need:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of all provincial pay practice legislations 

  • 5-7 years minimum experience using an online payroll system 

  • Experience using Ceridian Dayforce 

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or equivalent & Level I Canadian Payroll Administration 

  • Excellent data entry skills required 

  • Proficient in Excel & Word 

  • Strong ability to plan and meet deadlines
