Job Description
Salary: $52,337 annual ($4,361.42 per month)
Benefits: This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees’ retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a proration of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.
Basic Purpose: Sooner Job Challenge is searching for a talented and professional Community Outreach Coordinator to maintain all community outreach and public relations activities. This position will also plan and coordinate field trips/service to community events for the student associates based on their chosen vocations. In addition, this position represents the program and works with the management team to develop and implement initiatives that increase program visibility within the surrounding community and around the state.
Essential Functions:
· Through relationships and partnerships, actively seek and schedule opportunities for student associates to represent the program at high profile community outreach/service to community events.
· Develop and maintain partnerships/relationships with civic organizations, municipalities, school districts, government agencies, etc. to further develop the public image of the Sooner Job Challenge.
· Plan and coordinate field trip activities based on the student associates chosen vocations that have an educational, community service, creative or recreational purpose.
· Coordinate all aspects of events, community service projects, and field trips both externally and internally for the program
· Create press releases and manage regular social media feeds to promote the program image.
· Attend community events to further program relationships and promote the programs public image.
· Write creative copy for various mediums to highlight community service projects and program activities.
· Attend student associate scheduled events as required
· Attend program and departmental meetings and trainings as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge and experience in building community partnerships and youth development
· A qualified candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven
· Proven skills in leadership, group facilitations, marketing, and project planning
· Excellent organizational skills, with a high level of proficiency using technology efficiently as a time management and organizational tool
· Ability to create and maintain strong community collaborations
· Strong communication and writing skills, and ability to convey information in a clear, concise and conversational manner
· This position requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
· Must be able to work both in a team environment and be self-motivated to work with minimal supervision
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field and one year of experience in community outreach, public relations, marketing or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 10 pounds
- Sitting at a computer for long periods of time
- Standing and walking indoors and outdoors for long periods of time
- Working in conditions of both high and low temperatures
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended distances
Conditions of Employment:
- Serves a 12 month trial period
- Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check
- Contingent on passing pre-employment drug & alcohol screening
- Contingent on continuous federal funding
- T1/CNACI security clearance due to working with youth (Eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens.)
- Must maintain a valid driver license

Notes: Located at the Sooner Job Challenge Program in Oklahoma City, OK . Travel may be required at the expense of the employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel.
