Job Description

Position Summary
Position has primary responsibility of supervising volunteer staff in Valley Hospice to meet Medicare and the Joint Commission requirement of meeting 5% of total care hours with volunteer contact hours. The role encompasses volunteer recruitment, interviewing, orientation, placement, scheduling, guidance and general supervision of VHC volunteers. This individual will implement sound administrative practices that meet or exceeds standards of Joint Commission, including but not limited to mandatory tuberculosis testing, infection control, safety training and systems for record keeping as well as maintains quarterly volunteer statistics. The position is responsible for training and assigning of projects, inclusive of our Hospice End of Life Doula Program and will actively engage with community resources and agencies to recruit and maintain volunteer engagement as well as maintain a working relationship with Valley Hospital to ensure a coordinated volunteer program throughout Valley Health Systems.
Education
BA or BS degree required. Degree in Social Work or Healthcare Administration preferred. 
Experience

Minimum two (2) years of volunteer or leadership experience preferred Clinical or teaching experience preferred. 
Skills

Demonstrated administrative and program development abilities. Demonstrates effective interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills.  Effective organization skills and ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and a changing work environment related to changing patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system; with patients and family members; and with multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, Rehab, Lab, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills effectively problem solve and deliver care. Microsoft Office Proficient. Utilizes Communications Equipment (i.e., fax machine, telephone, printer, copier, etc.) appropriately. Current and valid State Driver's License.

Actual individual salaries vary depending on these factors. The salary listed does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.

Pay Range: $64,105.60 - $80,142.40

The posted pay range reflects the compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE)
