Markham Stouffville Hospital is a growing community hospital just north of the Greater Toronto Area and is offering a position to cover a 1.0 AFP funded maternity leave Medical Oncology locum from approximately October 1st 2026 to September 6th 2027.
Responsibilities include coverage of a medical oncology practice treating mostly gastrointestinal, genitourinary and breast cancers. You would be joining our existing group of six medical oncologists, three hematologists, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, a drug navigator, social workers and dieticians. The clinic is very well supported and no overhead is expected.
We also have a dedicated outpatient palliative care clinic and community palliative care team that assists with patient care. Interdisciplinary care is shared with tertiary care facilities, in addition to regional cancer centers offering radiation. Multidisciplinary tumour boards are held biweekly in conjunction with Southlake Regional Care Centre. We are also a proud member of the Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network, with streamlined access to consultations and collaborative care with the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Call responsibility is expected to be shared equally within the Medical Oncology division. Call duties would include seeing new Medical Oncology referrals for patients admitted to hospital or the emergency department. Support is provided to patients admitted to Uxbridge Hospital via consultations/telephone support. There is no requirement for Internal Medicine call as this responsibility is assumed by a strong General Internal Medicine division. There is no requirement for MRP work.
Qualifications/Experience:
License to practice Medical Oncology independently in Ontario from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
Medical Oncology certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent
