SUMMARY:

As the Workers on Wheels (W.O.W) Driver, this role is responsible for safely transporting clients to essential destinations such as medical appointments and grocery stores while providing a high level of customer service and support. This position plays a key role in maintaining client independence and access to essential services by ensuring reliable, compassionate, and timely transportation. In addition to driving responsibilities, this role supports basic administrative tasks and vehicle upkeep to ensure smooth daily operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide safe, reliable, door-to-door transportation for clients to and from medical appointments, grocery stores, and other approved destinations 
  • Assist clients as needed entering and exiting the vehicle to ensure a safe and supportive experience 
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, ride details, and client interactions in accordance with program requirements 
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections, including daily and monthly checks, and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly 
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times 
  • Communicate regularly with the W.O.W Coordinator regarding scheduling updates, client needs, or any issues that arise 
  • Contact clients as needed to confirm rides or update information in program records 
  • Support general administrative tasks such as making phone calls, stuffing envelopes, and assisting with office duties 
  • Attend required W.O.W meetings and participate in team communication and program updates 
  • Provide excellent customer service by maintaining a friendly, respectful, and professional demeanor with clients, team members, and the community

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

Demonstrated strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and provide compassionate support. This individual is dependable, organized, and able to manage time effectively while maintaining accurate records. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing schedules or client needs. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, are preferred. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is critical to success in this role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while driving 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist passengers in and out of vehicles 
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds as needed 
  • Frequent use of hands for driving, assisting passengers, and completing documentation 
  • Ability to operate a vehicle safely in various weather and road conditions 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients in person and over the phone 
  • Comfortable working in both vehicle and office environments with moderate noise levels 
  • Potential exposure to communicable illnesses when interacting with clients and the public
