Work Hours – 7:30AM to 4:30PM (Will travel 4 days a week and work from home 1 day a week) Subject to Change

To use an assigned state vehicle for commuting from an employee’s personal residence, the total one-way commute miles must not exceed 50 miles to the employee’s normal report-in location.
For field employees, the assigned headquarters is considered their normal report in location because daily work locations may vary based on assignments. Employees who reside outside of their assigned region will not use a state vehicle to commute to/from the region. The state vehicle must remain parked within the region at a location designated by their division director or designee.

What You'll Do as a Disaster Service Consultant 2
• Conducts on-site technical assistance visits, formal training classes & seminars;
• Provides independent evaluation to the Disaster Services Supervisor on the status of local government emergency preparedness & operational readiness based on activities to include but not limited to training programs, exercise activities, meetings with local officials & public outreach;
• Represents state at county &/or regional level events &/or meetings involving emergency management (i.e., mitigation, preparedness, response & recovery);
• Coordinate between state & locals to solve problems
• Assists local emergency management agencies in developing, conducting & evaluating training programs & exercises for systems, structures, plans & personnel integral to emergency operations;

OPTION 1:
2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in emergency management, public or business administration;
AND 2 yr. trg. or 2 yr. exp. in disaster services & emergency operations;
AND must be able to provide own transportation.
OPTION 2:
Or completion of undergraduate major core program in emergency management, public or business administration;
AND 2 yr. trg. or 2 yr. exp. in disaster services & emergency operations;
AND must be able to provide own transportation.
OPTION 3:
-Or 2 yrs. exp. as Disaster Services Consultant 1, 64911;
AND must be able to provide own transportation.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Job Skills: Emergency Management
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT
Completion of FEMA Professional Development Series, Damage Assessment Course, Disaster Recovery Course, EOC Course, Hazard Material Awareness Course & Incident Command System Course.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires travel; must provide own transportation; exposed to disaster sites, must be available for weekend & after normal hour duty, work will require absence from home for extended period of time during disaster & emergency, must be able to respond to disasters, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week except on approved vacation times; Exposed to dirt & debris; exposed to impacted areas (i.e., flood, hazardous material spills, blizzard, riot, tornado devastation) which may also be bio-hazard areas (e.g., tetanus, hepatitis).
This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.
Requires valid driver's license to operate state-owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation
