SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant supports daily Corporate Accounting operations, reconciliations, financial reporting activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with the Transactional Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, and VP of Finance to ensure the accuracy of financial data, maintain strong internal controls, and support month‑end close and workflow efficiency across the accounting team. The Senior Staff Accountant will report to the VP of Finance.
Essential Functions
- Enter and maintain benefit-related billing entries
- Manage the Pending Vendor Credits list, including collaboration with Procurement to ensure timely resolution
- Prepare and process payroll in coordination with HR and Finance
- Assist with clearing open payroll tax items and ensuring compliance
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Complete credit card reconciliations and resolve variances
- Assist with general ledger account reconciliations and provide support during month-end close
- Support financial analysis activities and aid in the preparation of financial reporting
- Assist the Collections Specialist with resolving customer inquiries
- Support accounting process improvement initiatives across the department
- Assist with maintaining and improving procedural documentation
- Serve as a Microsoft Dynamics power user to support team efficiency and issue resolution
- Cross-train with the Transactional Accounting Team to provide emergency backup coverage
- Other duties as assigned
Required Job Specifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Minimum 3-6 years of directly related accounting experience
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
- Payroll processing experience preferred
Optional/Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting commercial and government contract accounting
- Familiarity with IT services contracts and/or products
- Ability to evaluate problems, recommend solutions, and support process improvements
- Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Work Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. The person in this position will often move about inside the office to escort visitors, deliver packages to addressee, etc. Occasionally operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time. The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and clients.
